Convexities

I make abstract sculptures and wall works that utilize principles of formalism and geometry in process based portrayals of pattern, shape, color, and material relationships.  They are the outcome of an ongoing investigation into a specific process where linear repetitive patterns are cut into singular thin plywood sheets and formed into volumetric shapes that expand over curvilinear structures comprised of wood and metals.  I look to elements and aesthetics of parametric architecture and biomorphic forms and patterns found in nature. Precise yet fraught with imperfections as every piece is cut by hand as opposed to applying mathematical algorithmic parameters and computer aided  technology to design the compositions which inevitably allows small moments of human error to reveal themselves within the process.
